Safia’s case to become an international human rights concern

The tragic case of the child « Safia » knew interesting rising after the countdown has begun to determine the final decision by the Algerian justice. 

• The Algerian family residing in Oran is waiting for this decision after French Jack Cherbock claimed he is the father of the child.

• Her family raised a complaint to the General Attorney of the European court of human rights and sent a copy to the president Abdelaziz Boureflika, including the details of the case and calling for his intervention to resolve it legally.

• This case was classified as state case when the French president Nicolas Sarkozy intervened personally and discussed it with the president Abdelaziz Bouteflika during his visit to Algeria.

• It also attracted attention of diplomatic officials and becomes an international case which competes with the cases of human rights at the European courts.

• The family of “Safia” or “Sofi” said they wrote to the general attorney of the court on March 15 and asked for intervention to resolve this case.
