Sahel Countries Imams and Preachers Association called for hostages' release

Sahel Countries Imams and Preachers Association renewed, on Wednesday in Niamey (Niger), its call for the release of all hostages who were held in the region, and enabling them to return to their families safely.

Niamey statement, which culminated with the work sessions, coordination and consultation of the Sahel Countries Imams and Preachers’ Association on April, 26, 27 and 28, as quoted by APS that the association has renewed “its call for the release of all hostages who are held in the region and enable them to return to their families safely.”

Same source said that the meeting took place after the visit, which led the Secretary -General of the Association, Youcef Mechria, to Niger, and his meeting with the association’s President, Sheikh Boureima Dawooda, and many of the institutions, personalities and icons who are active in the Nigerian society.

Association condemned and denounced what is happening to Muslims in Central Africa of ethnic cleansing and genocides, and called on the international community to immediate and quick intervention to take all the responsibilities before asking all parties to “give priority to the language of coexistence, peace and dialogue.”

It also called for “actors in the region” among preachers, imams, Elders and wise men to contribute to the success” of the human civilized project, and contribute to the dissemination of the values ​​of peace, tolerance, coexistence and reconciliation among the peoples of the region.

Same statement added that the association decided to create a magazine called “Association’s Letter” in three languages, Arabic, English and French, and create a website for the association and social networks.
