Saipem: no evidence about illegal payments to Algeria officials

In a statement posted on its website, the Italian company said an internal investigation was conducted by external consultants in relation to some brokerage contracts and subcontracts in Algeria.
It added that its board of directors decided to take legal action against certain unnamed former employees and suppliers to protect the interests of Saipem.
The results of the investigation will be handed over to Milan prosecutors
At the request of the U.S. Department of Justice, Saipem said it entered a “tolling agreement” that extends by six months the limitation period applicable to any possible violations of U.S. federal laws.
