“Saudi aircraft with 300 Algerian passengers makes forced landing at Algiers airport”
The 300 or so Algerian passengers on board an 600 A / 300 Airbus of the Saudi airline company did not expect yesterday that their flight for the Omra or small Pilgrimage to the holy places of Islam in Saudi Arabia to turn into a nightmarish situation.
-
As a matter of fact, Echorouk has learnt that shortly after take-off from the international airport of Algiers, the Saudi plane with on board over 300 Algerian pilgrims abruptly had technical problems and the pilot had no other alternative but to make a forced landing at Algiers airport.
-
-
After witnessing the technical problem ostensibly with the plane’s landing gear, the flight captain ordered a return to the airport of Algiers after circling into the air above the sea not far from the Algerian capital for about 50 minutes.
-
-
The Algerian passengers most of them elderly people were utterly frightened and dismayed at this untoward development as many of them had chronic diseases which had a deleterious impact on their health on account of the great panic on board.
-
-
They had to be taken care of by medical teams of the airport of Algiers after the unexpected forced landing of the Saudi plane. Apart from the huge fear and dismal consternation among the passengers, no casualties were reported.
