Saudi Arabia counted more than 3,000 Algerians who are living in an illegal situation in 2017, accounting for 4% of all foreigners who are living illegally in the country.

According to the Saudi Interior Ministry, over 570,758 foreign nationals from 140 countries are invited to leave Saudi Arabia before the end of January 2018.

The measure is aimed at reducing the number of foreign workers without formal work permits from the country’s authorities.

According to the ministry, part of the 3,000 Algerians have already left, while the rest are waiting to end travel procedures and re-issue passports.

In the same context, the Algerian General Consul in Saudi Arabia, Abdelkader Qassimi al-Hassani, revealed to the Saudi newspaper Okaz in November, that 9800 Algerians live legally in the Kingdom and work in various fields of higher education, medicine and technology, in addition to the sports field as trainers.
