Saudi Arabia will discuss projects in Algeria’s market

The Algerian-Saudi 12th joint committee will be held between February 14th and February 16th in Algiers. It will be chaired by the industry minister Abdesselam Bouchouareb and his Saudi counterpart Madjid Abdellah Al-Qassabi in presence of tens of Algerian and Saudi businessmen. Different economic and commercial issues will be discussed as well as the possibility of cooperation in human resources.

The industry ministry said in a release that many closed door meetings will be held between experts. An open meeting will be organized on Tuesday at Sheraton Hotel. A partnership protocol will be signed during a ministerial meeting due to be organized on Thursday.

Vice-chairman of the Algerian commerce and industry chamber Ryad Ammour told Echorouk that the joint committee reflects the improvement of bilateral relations. 

Few months ago, negotiations were launched on the Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal’s visit to Riyadh.

“Saudi Arabia will be a strategic partner for Algeria and a main factor to inject money in projects,” Ammour said.

He added that Saudi Arabia is ready to be a partner in a number of projects. “A set of car making projects will be discussed with Riyadh. Agriculture and food industry will have the lion’s share in partnership issues.”

Ammour also said Algeria is interested in bringing hard currency to inject it in national projects. Saudi Arabia committed to invest $10 billion in different projects in the next few years in Algeria.
