Scandal: French Maps For Teaching Arabic Topics

Contests for the recruitment of teachers will be held in late June, the National Education Minister, Nouria Ben Ghabrit, said on Saturday, on the sidelines of an international forum on the preparation of school maps.

“Teachers’ recruitment contest will be held in late June and will cover all subjects in the three educational stages (primary, intermediate and secondary), not for teachers of physics and mathematics as previously planned”.

“Number of open posts for the contest has not yet been determined. Education Ministry will continue to use the reserve lists in the recruitment on reliance on this competition. Our sector will rely on a comprehensive view in the determination of posts, so that the vacant posts will be included after the retirement, in the recruitment process”.

On the other hand, the Ministry of National Education announced the preparation of maps for middle and secondary schools in both national and foreign languages, ​​and a simplified primary school map, and they will be ready for the school year 2018-2019.

In her opening speech to an international forum on the preparation of school maps, the Minister of Education, Nouria Ben Ghabrit said; “The Ministry of Education decided to entrust the National Bureau of School Publications with the preparation of official educational texts in the national and foreign languages ,​​and simplified maps for the primary stage. In cooperation with Algerian institutions”.

“Among the institutions that will collaborated with the Ministry of Education, there is the National Geographic Information Council and the National Institute of Maps and Remote Sensing”.

“Preparation of these Atlases requires great time and effort. These educational tools will be ready for use in educational institutions, during the school year, not the next but after”.

“Resorting to the preparation of a national Atlas will take into account the country’s cultural, linguistic, historical, political and environmental specificity, and will take into account the international political changes, especially in terms of delimitation between countries and the names of some countries”.

“New atlases will be completed, after being subject to the approval of the Education Ministry, in accordance with the provisions of the organization in force, for the adoption and approval of means and pedagogical aids, and the National Institute of Maps and Remote Detection, in accordance with the provisions of the Executive Decree of May 1982”.

“Authors of these maps and atlases will be supervised by the General Manager of the National Office for School Publications, as a member of the United Nations Standardization Committee for Geographical Names”.

“It is an international conference on the preparation of atlases and school maps, that aimed at benefiting from the Dutch experience in the preparation of atlases and maps, which helps to achieve an Algerian School Atlas according to international standards, to provide students with a pedagogical tool of quality”.

The meeting was attended by two experts from the Netherlands, members of the National Atlas Committee of the International Association of Maps, and experts from the National Geographic Information Council and the National Institute of Maps and Remote Detection.
