Schengen visa fees: fraudulent benefits for embassies in Algeria

Almost four years ago, the European Union announced the decision to raise the cost of “Schengen” visa to 80 Euros instead of 35 Euros, not refundable. Its decision was not given justification and the concerned countries did not announce any type of protest or objection.

  • In fact, European countries take advantage from huge benefits that can be described as a “fraudulent” means of earning money through the implementation of the new program. It allowed them to earn millions from poor and left behind people.
  •
  • The French treasury has benefited from 4 million Euros regardless the value of incomes of the 180,000 visas granted through the telephone system bill or the filing of the application via the Internet through their website.
  •
  • Other embassies have adopted the use of this method to maximize profits pursuant to the new system income.
  •
  • Canada’s embassy fixed visa costs between 5,000 DZ and 8,500 DZ. At least 5,000 applications were rejected in 2009, with 8,500 DZ visa fees for each person.
  •
  • The same costs are requested by Spain’s embassy in Algeria adding to that full health insurance that covers all risks during the period of residence.
  •
  • The embassy of Belgium rejected 6,000 visas out of 9,000 in 2009; people pay every time around 11,000 Dz a total of 360,000 Euros.
  •
  • The cost of British visa for six months is not refundable in case of refusal 10,000 Dinars, adding to that the costs of insurance; they receive approximately 1.5 billion Algerian centimes.
  • It is more complicated for those wishing to immigrate to the United States. According to numbers belonging to the year 2009 obtained by “Echorouk” the American embassy in Algeria, received 7,050 applications, rejected 4,000 others and counted more than $ 3 billion centimes of benefit.
