Schools in Algiers breach the law and open during week-end

Parents have denounced the school district of “ Bordj El Kiffan” (east Algiers) for breaching the education ministry’s order to stop giving classes to pupils on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday afternoon.

• Unlike all the education institutions across the country ordering the closure of the gates on Friday , Saturday and Tuesday afternoon, dozens of school children in both “ 5^th  of July” and “ Guerni brothers” schools in eastern Algiers are forced to attend classes  on Saturdays from 8 am  to 1 pm  and Thursdays and Tuesdays afternoon depriving them from their right to have rest.
• This situation has  trigerred theoutrage of both the children and their parents alike who called for an immediate intervention from the minister and launch an inquiry into the matter.
• In a declaration to “Echourok” the parents expressed their worries at the responsibility of these two institutions in case of accidents since their children are not insured on Saturday and Tuesday afternoon.
• For their part, the schools’ headmasters replied to the complaining parents that they have received orders from the school district of Algiers to open their institutions in order to face up to the  situation as the timetable is too heavy during the week, they argued.
