Security authorities call on more “flexibility†in the implementation of the new traffic law
The Directorate –General of National Security has ordered its security agents to abide by the basic rules of ethics when dealing with citizens during the implementation of the new traffic rules’ sanctions against the drivers.

The notice has insisted on the necessity to take into account series of criteria before sanctioning the wrongdoers including the roads’ general conditions and the traffic signs locations before applying the sanctions.

The instructions called on the security elements to be more accurate when, they establish the fine because of the great number of irregularities registered when implementing the sanctions, triggering wave of complaints from the citizens, Echourouk has learnt.

The security authorities intent to be reach a certain degree of flexibility during the implementation of these news measures , considered by many as coercive and sometimes disproportionate, in order to curb the citizens’ complaints numbered by dozens a day adding pressure on the security officials.

On the other hand, the number of traffic accidents has decreased after two months of the coming into force of the new law, according to the national gendarmerie estimates.
