Security forces killed ten terrorists and arrested eight others: Zerhouni

The Algerian Minister of Interior Nouredine Yazid Zerhouni said a large number of terrorists surrendered during the last two months which is the evidence, according ro him, that they have problems and that they understand they are not able to reach their aims. 

• He said during a press conference Tuesday evening that the security forces eliminated ten leaders of various terrorist battalions and arrested eight others as well as six terrorists who surrendered during the last months.

• The Minister of States explains “There is a special security plan for the elections, however, this those not mean we prepared an army for that. We devoted many security services including Police and Gendarmerie as well as the National Algerian Army “APN” according to the voting offices where three to four elements in order to protect the voters. We did not allocate a special budget and the number of police and soldiers in the rural areas is not super-normal, these are security measures to protect the voting process”.

• “The security procedures did not allow the few terrorists that still exist to implement any bombings during the last period,” he added.

• Zerhouni praised the role of the national security services and particularly police and the self defence forces as well as citizens who showed more vigilance during the campaign which allows “The good functioning of the electoral campaign”.
