“Task of these people was collecting funds and sending them to the terrorist groups that are affiliated with the organization, and which are deployed in various hotbeds of tension in some Arab countries, similar to Syria. The task of the detainees, according to security investigations, is to recruit people who are followed by justice in Algeria and falsify their documents, and deport them to Syria through Turkey, and among the detainees, there is a woman of Tunisian nationality”.
This quality operation comes after the Algerian security forces intensified their presence in cities and neighborhoods in particular to track the cells of supporting extremist groups with the mission of collecting funds, supplies, food, information and telephone lines for extremist groups, which are widespread in mountains and forests.
Since the beginning of 2017, the army managed to arrest more than 57 members, 23 of them in March, 9 in February and 25 others were arrested earlier this year.
Presence of these groups is concentrated in the Algerian east, such as Setif, Jijel, Bejaia, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, and also in the western cities like Oran, Sidi Bel Abbes and Ghelizan.
These groups are assigned with the task of recruiting youth, especially the unemployed, to join extremist groups, using letters that are related to jihad against the infidels, and calling for the establishment of the Islamic state and the supporting Muslims.
Between 2014 and 2017, the Algerian armed forces launched several large military operations in rugged mountainous areas in Bouira (eastern Algeria), in order to eliminated groups that have declared their allegiance to ISIS.
