Security Services Arrest 7 Followers Of Ahmadiyya In Algiers

Research Platoon of the National Gendarmerie in Algiers Bir Mourad Rais arrested seven people, between 30 and 50, and seized a computer, publications and folders that glorify the Ahmadiyya in the Municipality of Sehaoula.

According to a statement of the Regional Group of the National Gendarmerie in Algiers, which copy was received by Echorouk, the operation came after tracking the movements of suspected persons who belong to the Ahmadiyya community, and who were conducting religious services in places that are not dedicated to that, with their acts and actions which have no relationship with the Islamic religion, in Algiers Sehaoula municipality.

After identifying the places which they visit, and after conducting the legal procedures, they raided their homes, where the operation resulted in seizing computers, and a considerable amount of CDs, publications and magazines, in addition to copies of the lectures of the leaders of this community, and a collection of books and folders that have a direct link with Ahmadiyya.

During the course of investigation, the detainees confessed to belonging to Ahmadiyya community, and exercising a clandestine activity since 2008, as they also acknowledged the existence of a relationship that links them with other people who belonging to the same community, and who are working to promote, broadcast and spread the teachings of Ahmadiyya in the Algerian society.

After the completion of the investigation procedures, the suspects were brought before the prosecutor at Boufarik court, for their involvement in several cases led by committing a misdemeanor of abuse of religion and rituals of Islam, and collecting donations without a license, and storage of printed documents in order to destabilize the Muslims’ faith, and the practice of religious rites in non-allocated places, and assaulting the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

After the investigation with those persons, they have been placed under judicial control.
