Security Services Dismantle An ISIS Cell That Recruits Youth On Facebook

Judicial police elements of Mostaghanem, Western Algeria, dismantled, on Thursday, a terrorist cell that is affiliated to ISIS, and which activity extends across the province’s territory.

According to Echorouk sources, the terrorist cell is made up of nine people, who are aged between 20 and 58 years. 

According to the same sources, the defendants in this case, managed for some time, to recruit youth on social networks, including Facebook, trying to mislead them, and planting jihadist ideas in their minds, in order to join the ranks of ISIS terrorist in Syria. 

The process of monitoring the suspects, which was led by security services throughout the month, made it possible to determine the activity of ISIS elements in the light of the results of the investigation with some of the suspects. 

Public prosecutor at Mostaganem Court, ordered the placing of seven people in the temporary detention on charges of belonging to a terrorist organization, while an element who belongs to the same group was placed under judicial control, and another one benefited from a direct summon to attend the trial.

It should be noted, that it is not the first time in which Mostaganem (western Algeria), noticed the dismantling of terrorist cells, but it noticed, a few months ago, and exactly in Al Djebel district, a similar process, where the judicial police services put an end to the activity of a terrorist cell. 

The operation came after accurate information that were followed by intensive investigations on the movements of the group. After days of surveillance, the same services succeeded in identifying two suspects, as cops raided the house where two accused were hiding, and who were arrested in the possession of two Kalashnikovs, in addition to a set of grenades.
