Land borders with Tunisia are completely under control, thanks to the tight security coordination between the two sides, and the deployment of more troops and sophisticated equipment which limited the possible infiltration of terrorists between the two countries, identical sources told Echorouk.

Data indicate the decline of infiltration attempts between the two countries through uncontrolled land ports, by about 80%, as statistics and figures indicate that the number of intrusion attempts that were recorded during 2015 reached about 100 attempts, while they did not exceed, during the first semester of 2016, about 20 only.

Same sources talked about the effectiveness of security measures that were taken on the eastern border, both those on the land wall, which hampers the progress of vehicles and infiltration in difficult outlets, or through deploying teams and brigades of the gendarmerie, border guards and thermal cameras, in addition to the security coordination between the two sides.

Effectiveness of these procedures are reflected through the rapid exchange of information with the control points, as each check point, whether in Algeria or Tunisia, and every patrol has quick communication with the other side of the border.

A coordination that allowed foiling and aborting several plans of terrorist groups in communicating with each other, or supporting elements with equipment to break the siege of some besieged battalions, and in the mountainous eastern regions as well.

It is known that the Algerian Tunisian land border stretches on 1010 km, including 345 in the south, where sandy areas that were isolated with dirt on its extension to curb the infiltration of suspicious vehicles, and in the rest of the mountain areas like Tebessa, Souk Ahras and El Taref (Eastern Algeria), which were supported by increasing surveillance towers, and deploying sophisticated equipment that is in line with the geography of the area to detect any infiltration.
