Sellal to Benflis: we will not allow you to threaten us
Abdelmalek Sellal, director of candidate Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s electoral campaign asked Algerians to vote for Bouteflika on Thursday and warned independent candidate Ali Benflis against “exceeding his limits.”
Bouteflika’s electoral campaign department ended its work on Sunday in Algiers where Sellal organized a popular rally. He asked audience to make a comparison between 1999 as Bouteflika arrived to power and current time in which “Algerian people are living in peace and stability.”
He added that Algeria is located in a “very difficult” geopolitical environment as it is surrounded by unstable countries.
Sellal also said Bouteflika’s national renewal project is meant to build a new republic and a modern state where freedoms are respected and human’s rights are concretized.
He believes that Bouteflika is the only man who can manage Algeria and preserve its stability.
“Yes for Bouteflika … yes for Bouteflika,” he said loudly.
Sellal implicitly criticized Benflis for “violence and terrorism.”
“We will not allow anyone to threaten us. Those have people have to cast ballots and take their rights,” he said.
