Social Security Ministry Adopts A New List Of Compensable Medicines

Labour, Employment and Social Security adopts a new list of compensable medications, that are prescribed to patients with cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, nerves and mental illness.

A decree that was issued by the Ministry identified a number of conditions to complete the compensation process.

According to the decree that is signed by the Labour Minister, Mohammad El Ghazi, the medicine that is prescribed for patients with cancer such as Ondansétron 16 Mg that is compensable provided that there is a prescription from the services in the hospital that is specialised in providing insurance for patients with cancer.

Concerning the Neurology patients, the ministry said that the medicine “Levetiracetam 1000 Mg, Donépézil Chlorhydrate 5 Mg, as the the decree provided for the existence of a prescription from a specialist in neurological diseases until the medicines are compensated, and the compensation is governed by the prior approval of the Commission on Social Security, with respect to the initial compensation every six months.

Same decree stipulated the compensation that is accompanied by a medical report on the patient, as it shows the initial condition that requires compatibility with great use of the drug “Donépézil”, and then justify the benefit of continuing therapy according to the patient’s response to the drug, for evidence of improvement in mental function by two psycho metrical options at least, and a clinical evaluation, which are the same conditions for the same drug but with a 10 mg dose.

“Special medication of patients with neurological diseases which is Rivastigmine, Hydrogen Tartrate 3 Mg, and 4.5 Mg, stipulating the same conditions that have been mentioned above”.

As for the drugs of soothing that were cited by the decree they are: Risperidone 1 Mg and Quetiapine Fumarate 25 Mg, 100 Mg and 300 Mg, stipulating the doctor’s prescription who is specialized in mental diseases.
