Algeria's hydrocarbons Company Sonatrach launched the compilation of the pipeline that carry gas in the station for pressing gas that is situated east of Hassi Delaà, about 27 km, south of Algeria, in anticipation of the launching of “Gualsi” project, which is a new pipeline for transporting gas with the size of 48 inches across the Italian island Sardinia, for a total output of 40 billion cubic meters annually of the total exportation of gas from Algeria towards Italy.

• This project, with a Mediterranean and international importance, stems from the distribution centre in Hassi Rmel, south of Algeria, towards El Kala, east of Algeria, then to Sardinia.
• It is expected to contribute to improving the capacities of Algeria’s gas exportation to more than 10 billion cubic meters.
• 12 national and international companies entered bidding on the project which is expected to begin before the end of this year. It is divided into four shares, the first linked Hassi Rmel and El Kala at a distance of 640 km, the second linked El Kala with Calligarri in Italy at 310 km, in a depth of 1950 m in the open sea. The third share linked Calligarri with Olibia at 300 km, as for the forth share it linked Olibia with Paskala at 220 km in a 900 m depth.
• This project coincides with the progressing project of “Enrico Matti” which is achieved by “Cosider”, beginning from Hassi Rmel, south of Algeria, towards Italy via Tunisia.
