Sonelgaz Gains Deals in Africa soon
Industry and Mines Minister, Abdesslam Bouchouareb, revealed on the preparation of the energy complex Sonalgaz to enter the African market soon, confirming that the Algerian Energetic Group will develop the energy structures in a number of countries in the African continent, that are unable to achieve self-coverage with electricity, as the African countries do not produce more than 50% of their needs.
“Opening airspace to the private properties is not an urgent need”, in an implicit reference about refusing the request of the President of the forum heads of institutions, Ali Haddad, when called for liberalizing the aviation sector and opening the sky for the private investors.
The minister said during a preparatory meeting of the forum of the African Investment and Business, which is expected to be held in Algiers from 19 to 21 of next November in the Palais des Nations, that Algeria is today obliged to open itself to the African continent, and discuss the investment there, and export its products to diversify the national economy and go out of the hydrocarbons, in light of the current economic situation, especially since the United Nations identified the year 2030, as a deadline to help Africa go outside its dependency and underdevelopment, as electricity market, is one of the most important sectors that can be entered by the Algerian companies led by Sonelgaz.
He announced his support for the Algerian businessmen, led by the forum of heads of enterprises, although it hinted implicitly to rejecting the request of its head, Ali Haddad, about opening the Algerian sky in front of private investors who are wishing to invest in the establishment of private airlines, noting that “It is not yet the right time” and that “The liberalization of the sector is not an urgent need”.
“The opening of five lines to the African continent to break the pression on it, is a sufficient action to resolve the problem of movement of businessmen, after Ali Haddad complained from spending more than 20 hours to travel to an African capital, through other countries in the absence of direct lines”.
“To diversify the economy is not just talk, it is an urgent necessity”, reminding the direct actions for some time in the development of the cement industry, which will achieve self-sufficiency in the beginning of September, and phosphate as well, which production capacity raised from one million to 10 million tons, and considered that the file of closing the border with some African countries is circumstantial, and will not affect the investment, because of the security conditions”.
For his part, Chairman of the forum heads of institutions, Ali Haddad, reaffirmed the role of businessmen in organizing the regional and economic events, and participate in these events, and said that Algeria will export energies and digital security for the African states, and called for liberalization of the aviation sector, and the opening of direct lines towards a number of African countries, and the entry of Mobilis in investment in the continent.
FCE head asked for stopping the importation of wheat and milk, wondering about the reason for bringing enormous quantities from abroad, and produce these products locally, saying: “Whoever says that Algeria will export potatoes after suffering from a crisis in the market supply with this product in the past years, we want a similar decision for wheat and milk “.
