Sophisticated equipment at ports, airports and border centers to stop money smuggling and laundering

Director General of Customs, Mohamed Abdou Bouderbala, announced on new measures to improve the social and professional conditions of customs’ agents and officials, tat will come into force in the coming days, adding that the customs administration will adopt the new policy to combat the smuggling of hard currency and money laundering.
Bouderbala revealed, on the sidelines of the sixth National Symposium of Customs at the Headquarters of the club of army; ”In the context of the fight against smuggling, his services bought devices that can detect over 1,200 banned substance, as they will strengthen sections of Customs workers in ports, airports and border posts with this equipment, waiting for circulation to the rest ofcustoms services.
The spokesman added that a new program enters under the protection of the economy from the phenomenon of smuggling that is taking place in the borders, pointing out that the Customs Service will use the new centers on borders by raising the number to 86 border posts, with the mission of protect the borders by monitoring suspicious movements and traffic control in order to protect the economy.
”The program is based on the training of the agents to strengthen border centers and different customs centers with qualified human elements, stressing that the goal of the customs administration is to reach 30.000 customs’ agents within the next five years, until the consolidation of all customs centers.
