The trial of Said Bouteflika, the brother of former Head of State Abdellaziz Bouteflika, as well as those of the former head of the former Department of Intelligence and Security (DRS), General Mohamed Mediène, known as Tewfik, Bachir Tartag, former head of the Department of Surveillance and Security (DSS) and Louiza Hanoune, Secretary General of the Workers’ Party (PT) will start “in the coming weeks”.

Channel 3 of the Algerian Radio, which reported this information on Sunday, stated that the investigating judge of the Blida Military Court “closed his investigation” concerning these defendants, stating that the case in which they are involved broke out at the beginning of May 2019, when they were arrested.
It recalled that after being heard by the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Military Court, they were detained on charges of “undermining the authority of the Army and plotting against the authority of the State”.
Citing the services in charge of the investigation implicating them, channel 3 noted that these people had gathered in a residence on the heights of Algiers, with the aim of “destabilizing the country”.
It also pointed out that the cases of defendants, placed under a warrant of arrest after their arrest, are waiting to be transferred to the services concerned to schedule their trial, which could be opened “in the coming weeks”.
