Subsidized milk, bread and fuel prices will be exclusively destined to the poor

The treasury ordered a study on the reform of the governmental subsidy policy in order to rationalize subsidy expenses by granting them exclusively to poor people by this manner rich people will no more benefit from the subsidized milk, bread and fuel prices.

According to this project, by the end of the year, only poor people will benefit from subsidized prices through the establishment of a national file of persons deserving this aid ; a procedure that will enable to cut the expenses generated by the subsidy policy and which cost  the treasury 1603 billion dinars or what equals 20 billion dollars .

Echourouk’s sources explained that the working group which elaborated the economic and social pact issued during the last tripartite included a clause on cutting subsidy expenses by granting the subsidized prices only to the needy but due to the specific conjuncture (pre-presidential election period) the study of this project has been delayed but the treasury has been charged to find the appropriate way to bring this measure into operation.
