A senior official at the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood snubbed calls for arming the revolution in Syria, saying the people are stuck on peace as a unique option.

Mohamed Fatah al Raoui, a Muslim Brotherhood’ senior official installed in Britain told Echorouk reporter that the Syrian people are unanimous over rejecting “sectarianism, violence and resorting to foreign military intervention,” adding that shifting from peaceful protest to armed action is “a serious issue.”

“The protests that are calling on for international protection want from major powers to support the Syrian people through diplomatic means, including the withdrawal of their ambassadors from Damascus, because the people is being massacred there,” Mr al Raoui defended.

As for regime’s allegations that armed groups killed 700 soldiers, Mr al Raoui said “Well the regime bets on the weapons of sectarianism and terrorism to abort the revolution,” adding that “if there were really armed groups which kill army officers, there would have been recognition statements of such operations, where the name of these presumed groups and their leader are revealed; something that hasn’t occurred!”

The opponent official further assumed that the majority of “independent army officials” who announced split from the Syrian Army would have been liquidated for rejecting killing protesters.
