Tassili Airlines to help develop tourism in Algeria: Chrif Rahmani

The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Cherif Rahmani, revealed on a special plan to re-establish the nine public hotels that are located in the southern localities of Algeria, in the framework of a comprehensive national plan to boost tourism in the Sahara.

  • “The Ministry of Tourism will tender for the appointment of a research unit that will determine the institutions to achieve the plan according to international standards,” he said during the closure of the tourism season in Timimoune, Adrar, south of Algeria.
  •
  • “Hotels that belong to the company of managing the state’s shares of hotels and tourism in the south, were subjected to deterioration during the past twenty years, that’s why government was obliged to take a decision of restoring them in order to be ready for service in the context of the new tourist policy which considers Sahara as a very important tourist area,” he added.
  •
  • “The building of new hotel in the south is very costly for the private sector compared with the investment in the north, because the tourist season in the south is limited to six months due to the high temperature which reduces the profitability of tourist institutions in the region and allows maintaining the historical monopoly of the hotels infrastructures”.
  •
  • “The government’s plan would require the presence of an effective transport plan to bring the current and future tourist regions closer to the potential tourists from inside and outside Algeria. My cabinet wants to make of the company “Tassili airlines”, which was belonging to “Air Algerie” a private company for regional airlines in order to serve tourists through opening all the airports which were closed because “Air Algérie” was a simple company.
  •
  • The first flight Paris-Timimoune (south) was inaugurated Saturday by Rahmani, receiving the first group of tourists that contain 100 tourists who came from Paris to Ghardaia then arrive to Timimoune, south of Algeria.
  •
  • A second group of 110 arrived directly from Paris to Timimoune, after the French organization “Point Afrique” managed to organize a direct flight.
