Tax rise will concern luxurious cars and trucks only.

The Algerian authorities decided not to implement a tax rise on new vehicles whose engines do not exceed 10 horsepower, while the complementary financial legislation imposed a tax rise on cars exceeding 10 horsepower and other trucks public works engines.

•   In this respect, the tax on fuel cars will move from 150 thousand Algerian Dinars to 200 thousand Algerian Dinars while those working on gas oil will move from 150 thousand Algerian Dinars to 300 thousand Algerian Dinars.

• This move will assure thousands of Algerian families with modest incomes who panicked to the news that taxes on new cars will double this year.

• The Algerian president who chaired the cabinet meeting, ordered the transfer of the total amount of money garnered through this operation to finance major project in the public transportation.
