Taxi drivers to go on strike after Ramadan
General-Secretary of the Algerian Association of Taxis, belonging to the Central Trade Union, Boudjami Idrous, announced on a national strike for Taxi drivers after Eid Al Fitre ( Muslims religious feast), and called for the holding of a general assembly of the union in the presence of heads of the regional offices for 48 localities and the national office under the supervision of the national federation of transport workers, in order to determine the date and number of days of the strike, which will include 80.000 taxi drivers across the country, including 20.000 collective buses, 60.000 individual taxis, including 15.000 taxis in Algiers, and 10.000 in Oran, as well as the other localities.

“The decision to go on a strike is decisive as long as the Mudjahideen (war veterans) and sons of the martyrs and relatives are still monopolizing the licenses for taxi cars”, he says.
