Teenage beggars to collect money for terrorist gorups

The detective division of the Algerian police force of the region of Tissemsilt, western Algeria, has neutralized a terrorist group backup network specialized in collecting funds through the use of minors as beggars.

• The security forces have arrested early this week two brothers under 17 from the province of Chlef , western Algeria, in their possession of a sum of money collected through their activities as beggars.

• The teenagers were pushed to carry on this activity against their will by a 50 year old man from the province of Ghilizane, western Algeria, in exchange of  a “salary “ fixed by this one according to the amount garnered over a day long “work”.

• The victims have revealed that the man was transporting them on his own car from one region to another to meet them back after a hard day work in a place agreed upon earlier and take the money they garnered out of them, under the threat to kill them if they don’t comply to his orders.

• The investigations have revealed that the teenagers’ relative (24) who was doing the same job for the man when he was minor has suggested to them the idea of joining the network led by this man.

• The teenagers were put in prison on charges of support to terrorist groups, while the two other men were charged with adherence to terrorist groups and transferred to the penitentiary of the province of Tiaret, western Algeria.
