Terrorism: Security services arrest a terrorist back up cell of eight people including students west of Algeria

The judge of the first chamber of the Court of Mascara, west of Algeria, ordered the provisional detention of eight people on charges of supporting and supplying a terrorist group, in accordance with the article 87 of the Penal Code, paragraph 4.  

  • The facts of the case back to last Friday night when the elements of the Department of Information and Security belonging to the National Gendarmerie, arrested eight people suspected of being involved in issues related to terrorist attacks, based on information that reached the security services, about young men between 20 and 38 yeas old, living in El Mamounia, where some of them still continue their secondary studies, and others are students, and one of them is a trader and a daily worker.
  • According to identical sources from the region, the eight youths had been in contact with a terrorist from Ghelizane, west of Algeria, via mobile phone since the first months of 2008, and he tried to persuade them of joining the terrorist groups, showing them some of the privileges they will receive and the good circumstances in the mountains, as these youngsters agreed with the idea and the eight youngsters remained in coordination with each other and expressed readiness to join terrorist groups and kept in contact with them. A leader of a terrorist group contacted them, the sources add, then a misunderstanding occurred among the eight youngsters and the terrorist who paved their way, as one of them contacted the security services which arrested them and opened an investigation.
