Terrorist groups use farming fertilizers to manufacture explosives
Agriculturists and owners of large fields in Metija, Blida, west of Algiers, and Oulad Moussa in Boumerdes, east of Algiers, as well Reghaia and Korso, Algiers, said they buy more than 50% of the fertilizers from the black market, despite the tight security procedures imposed by the local authorities in every locality concerning to distribution of the farming fertilizers.

They confirmed that there is a decline in the number of the fields that cultivated vegetables and fruits with more than 50% because of the high prices of the fertilizers reached from 1500 dinars to 10.000 dinars per ton in the black market, in a time most of the farmers could not own enough quantities of fertilizers to spray the fields of vegetables and fruits.

“The prices of the farming fertilisers rise to 10.000 dinars per ton in the black market because illegal distributors sell them in light of the absence of control by the security services”, investor Ibrahim.H and owner of a 20 hectares field in Oulad Moussa, Boumerdes, said.

“The problem of fertilisers was less serious last year; however, it increased this year because of the conditions imposed on access these fertilizers, as farmers are required to obtain permission from the governor in order to obtain them. The local authorities do not give the framer the licence only after controlling his agricultural investment and confirm that there are crops that need fertilizers which must be transferred by security guards in order to be sure they will not be used by terrorist group that use them in manufacturing explosives,” he added.
