Terrorist Recruits Three Algerian Youth In ISIS Western Algeria
Investigations that were conducted by the joint security services in Oran (western Algeria) with members of a terrorist cell that is linked to ISIS, revealed that a leader, 56, recruited three youth to join the terrorist organization in Syria, and they arrested him before leaving the national territory.
A report by the Information and Communication Cell of the State Security Directorate of Oran, which a copy was sent to Echorouk, revealed details of the thwarting of this criminal plan, stating that the operation was carried out a few days ago by police forces in Algiers Dar Bida neighborhood, in the west of the country.
The dismantling of this terrorist cell came after a constant follow-up to the movements of the suspects, which enabled the arrest of four people, including the 56-year-old recruiter, while the remaining three youth were arrested while preparing to leave the national territory to join ISIS in Syria.
Process of search of the arrested houses led to the discovery of PCs and CD-ROMs, containing pictures and videos that praise terrorist acts and passports as well.
According to the police statement, the recruitment cell’s leader used information and communication technologies to defame young people and to instill the idea of joining ISIS in their minds.
Same statement explained that the defendants in the case were referred to the public prosecutor, who ordered them to be placed in preventive detention, pending their subsequent trial.
It should be noted that the judicial police in Casablanca in Oran, in cooperation with the security services of the second military region, was dealing with a similar case earlier this yeear, as the same services succeeded in dismantling a recruitment cell for terrorist groups via Facebook, and arrested nine youth between the ages of 18 and 35.
