Terrorists keen to benefit from amnesty in Algeria

Many terrorists implicitly expressed their conviction in the endeavour of the National Reconciliation and asked their families about the amnesty, Echorouk has learnt from sources close to terrorists’ families.

• “National leader of the Sunnit Group for Preaching and Combat let his followers the choice either to surrender and benefit from the amnesty or continue carrying out armed acts,” said the same sources.
• A terrorist says he was about to surrender and many of his companions want to give up their acts. “We postponed this project as we are waiting to benefit from the amnesty.”
• A terrorist who surrendered to the National Gendarmerie forces in Tipaza province (west of Algiers), about two yeas ago, told investigators a large number of followers of the Group Protectors of Salafist Preaching led by Mohamed Ben Salim nicknamed Salim Al Afghani.
• “Many of them are waiting for the right time to surrender as soon as possible,” he said.
• Those armed groups had washed hands of the fighting method adopted by the so-called the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) led by Abdelmalek Droudkel.
• Salim Al Afghani had issued statements to criticise Droudkel’s acts using religious evidences.
• The Group Protectors of Salafist Preaching was the first to bless the September 11 attacks but it was against joining Al-Qaeda and the Salafist Group.
