That's what President Bouteflika said about the security situation in the South

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in his capacity as Minister of National Defense, instructed the Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the ANP, Army Corps General, Ahmed Gaid Salah, to convey a letter to all the national armed forces, stressing the need to preserve the security and stability of Algeria and the protection of its sovereignty and the elimination of the last terrorist remnants.

Indeed, the President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, chaired on Tuesday in Algiers a small-scale meeting on the security situation prevailing in the south of the country in relation to the tension that persists in some neighboring states, said a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.

Those officials who took part in the meeting included the Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, the Minister of State and the Head of the Office at the Presidency of the Republic, Ahmed Ouyahia, the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic, Tayeb Belaiz, the Minister of state, Minister of Foreign Affairs and international Cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra, the Deputy Minister of national Defence, Chief of Staff of the ANP, Army Corps General , Ahmed Gaid Salah, the Minister of the Interior and local Assemblies, Noureddine Bedoui, the Minister of Justice, Tayeb Louh, the Minister for Maghreb Affairs, African Union and the Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel, the Minister of Housing and Town Planning of the City, Abdelmajid Tebboune, the Advisor responsible for coordinating security services attached to the Presidency of the Republic, Athmane Tartag, the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, Major General Menad Nouba, and the Director General of National Security, Major General Abdelghani Hamel.

The purpose of this meeting is to show the concern of the highest authorities of the country about the security situation in Algeria, especially in the South. Seizures of heavy weaponry made by the forces of the ANP and the arrest and recent neutralization of several terrorists are elements that tell us about the cauldron which surrounds the country.

And henceforth, these terrorist groups have also invested several Sahelian countries, including Mali and Niger, two neighboring countries, trying each time to infiltrate into our country through the southern border. But thanks to the vigilance of the valiant Algerian Armed Forces, these groups have suffered scathing setbacks every time, which helped thwart several terrorist attacks on Algerian soil.

This also explains the insistence of the President of the Republic as to the preservation of peace and security in Algeria throughout the border areas, especially in the south of the country to repel any threat by nefarious terrorists and traffickers.

The President of the Republic, Mr Abdelaziz Bouteflika, also hailed the unflagging efforts made by the ANP Armed Forces, particularly in recent months by eliminating nearly 100 terrorists, while urging them to continue the resolute fight so as to eradicate for good the last vestiges of terrorism.
