The dean of the Algerian press photographers dies at 57
Hmida Ghezzal
While we were still savoring the last night’s celebrations organized by “Echourok†on the occasion of the selling of its 800 hundred copies a day, we’ve been thunderstruck by the news of the death of our colleague photographer Hmida Ghezzali who was admitted to hospital three days ago.

Spontaneously, the newspaper’s staff respected a minute of silence in the newsroom to pay a last homage to the 57 year old who passed away yesterday’s at the hospital losing its battle to diabetes.

Hmida Ghezzali started his career in 1974 at the ministry of education after moving to “Revolution and Labor” newspaper until 1978. The same year he joined “Algerian Youth “review where he spent two years to quit for “Echaab” newspaper.

After a year experience, Hmida moved to “ Al Wihda” newspaper then “Al Massaa” in 1985. Once again he decided to move elsewhere to “land” at the weekly sports magazine “Al Mountakheb” where he worked until 1995.

From this date onwards, Hmida Ghezzali worked for “El Khabar” newspaper where he spent the longest period of his rich professional career before being recruited by “Echourok” in 2008 until his death.
