The Italian national airline “ITA Airways” inaugurated its new agency headquarters at the “Aurassi” Hotel, and confirmed that its operation of 14 weekly flights between Rome and Algiers came to accompany the strong relations between the two countries and stressed the increasing interest in Algeria in Italian circles and the awareness of its touristic assets, and did not close the door to opening new destinations towards Algerian airports in the future.
The new headquarters, located at the “Aurassi” Hotel, was inaugurated on Tuesday evening, in the presence of the Deputy Ambassador of Italy to Algeria, Antonio Politi, and the official for Africa, the Middle East and Asia at “ITA Airways”, Benedetto Mincaroni, and its official in Algeria, Domenico Bianco, and the sales official in Algeria, Nabil Zamouri.
During the ceremony, it was emphasized that the inauguration of the new headquarters of the “ITA Airways” agency confirms the strong commitment of the Italian air carrier to the Algerian market, by operating 14 flights per week between Rome and Algiers, which confirms the company’s strong commitment to the Algerian market, as it is essential and strategic in the region, in the hope of increasing air traffic between the two countries to accompany the strong and intensive relations between Algeria and Rome.
During the ceremony, the growing interest in Algeria in Italian circles was also noted, as well as the awareness of the Algerian tourism potential and capabilities represented in particular by the large Romanian cities such as Tipaza, Djemila and Timgad, as well as the Great South.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the head of Africa, the Middle East and Asia at “ITA Airways”, Benedetto Mencaroni, said in a statement to “Echorouk”, in response to a question about the possibility of resuming the Rome-Oran line, that this city has indeed become an industrial hub and an important destination, especially in light of the presence of the “Fiat” company factory in this state, and this line existed years ago, but this does not mean that it will not exist in the future.
The same official explained that the company does not have a specific plan at the moment regarding the air link between Rome and Oran, but in the field of air transport, as is known, everything changes very quickly, and the Italian air carrier is always looking for new destinations and airports to which it operates flights.
Mr. Mincaroni considered that Algeria is a very important market, and currently the company operates 14 weekly flights, which shows, according to him, the great interest of the Italian carrier in the Algerian destination, and the investment in the renovation of its headquarters in the capital is evidence of its stability here in Algeria.
He concluded by saying: “Therefore, we never close the door to destinations and airports that we will connect to in the future in Algeria.”
