The Head of the Algerian Football Federation, Mohamed Raouraoua, said the Algeria squad “A” will face the French team in a friendly match on Wednesday 11 November, 2009.

• “The match between the Fennecs and the Tricolores will be held in 5 July Olympic stadium which will open on the Out 12 for the occasion of the friendly match between Algeria and Togo.
• The match between the Algerian and French squads, the last match for the African and World Cup qualifications will be preceded by Karim Ziani’s team mates to Cairo in order to face the Egyptian squad.
• The Algerian fans waited for eight years in order to see their squad playing the return match before Ben Zima’s team mates after the hard defeat of Rabeh Majder’s players in 2001 in the Stade de France during the match which was stopped in the second half with 4-1 in favour of the French team
• According to AFF, the match will notice the presence of the most important French and Algerian players, that’s why it is expected to attract large media coverage.
• Previously, the Algerian and French squads met on October 6, 2001, but the match was stopped by the referee at the 75th minute because  zealous supporters of the Algerian squad invaded the field of Saint- Denis following the French victory 4-1.
• Belmadi scored the only goal of the Fennecs in a free-kick baffling French goalkeeper Bartez.
