The First Civil Society Conference Starts In Algiers
The first conference of civil society associations starts today in Algiers with the attendance of 1050 participants, including representatives of civil associations abroad, experts, academics, political figures, foreign and local journalists, labour unions and businessmen.
Member of organization cell, Professor Abdelmadjid Bouzidi told reporters that this conference was suggested by the National Economy and Social Council (CNES) to convey the real preoccupations of Algerians to the decision makers, amid the exceptional wind of change blowing on the Arab region.
Five workshops have been scheduled in this three-day conference, to discuss different issues.
“The CNES will by no means intervene in the conference, but to collect outcomes of the workshops and convey them to the decision makers, including President Abdelaziz Bouteflika,” Professor Bouzidi specified.
“The discussions will be characterized by transparency and freedom, in order to draw up, ultimately, a draft of civil society, to be included in the upcoming constitutional amendments, in a way that define clearly the civil society, where citizenship should be highly profiled,” he added.
Pr Bouzidi said such a conference responds to the change claim emerging within the Algerian society.
