The Salafist Group advance west of Algeria
Observers to the security matter in Algeria said the advance of the terrorists in the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat also AQIM under the leadership of Droudkel or Abou Mosaab Abdelouadoud, to the west of Algiers, is another map of the spread of the terrorist group which seeks to give affect to the first zone, the central regions, which consists of the main strongholds of the GIA and then the Salafist Preaching Protectors, following defection of “Al Ahoual†(horror) battalion, as well as the type of terrorist attacks which resembles the GIA’s attacks because of the targeting of civilians.
-
The terrorist group “Salafist Preaching Protectors”, under the leadership of Mohemed Ben Salim also nicknamed Salim Al Afghani, did not announce any statement on its website since January, as it adopted the attack which targeted the security forces in Gouraia in Tipaza, west of Algiers, which is the main stronghold of Salim Al Afghani’s terrorist group.
-
-
However, the GSPC’s adoption of the ataack which targeted the security forces in Beni Milek in Damous, east of Tipaza, raise the questions about the new map spread of Al Afhani’s fellows, particularly in light of the advance of Droudkel’s fellows to his strongholds that are located west of Algeria.

-
Observers register a decline in the activity of terrorist group “Salafist Preaching Protectors” and return of Droudkel’s group “GSPC” or “AQIM”, which was keen to intensify its criminal activities in Al Afghani’s strongholds, in an attempt to confirm its control over those areas, which belong to the “Protectors” including Ain Defla, Tipaza, Tenes and Chlef, Sidi Belabbas, Ghelizane, Tissemsilet and Tlemcen, west of Algeria, were Droudkel’s fellows carried out terrorist attacks.
-
-
The recent attacks adopted by the GSPC or AQIM in Ain Defla, Tipaza and Sidi Belabbes, west of Algiers, confirm the withdrawal of Al Afghani from his traditional strongholds following the threats by Droudkel in formal correspondence asking him to leave his positions as soon as possible, otherwise he will be eliminated.
-
-
Security forces killed 10 fellows of Salim Al Afghani in Ain Defla, west of Algeria, and some others surrendered in order to benefit from the national reconciliation, thus the question raises about the faith of the terrorist group “Salafist Preaching Protectors”.
-
-
Droudkel’s group was keen to transfer its activity to the strongholds of the Salafitst Preaching Protectors in order to confirm spread of its map of attacks and to find strategic locations.
-
-
Observers to the security matter do not exclude the possibility of Droudkel’s group advance to safer areas in light of the intensified security prosecutions in its main strongholds, following the destruction of many of its shelters and back up cells. However, the withdrawal of the Protectors would be strategic to reorganize the group and avoid any confrontation with the GSPC’s terrorists.
