The Sultanate of Oman Praises the Relations With Algeria
Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the historical and bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Algeria in various fields.
Omani Foreign Ministry published an article on its official website entitled “Oman and Algeria: Past, Present, and Future.”
This article coincides with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s three-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman. This visit represents a historic moment, as it is the first meeting between His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and President Tebboune since each of them assumed power.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s state visit to the Sultanate of Oman reinforces the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, which extend back more than half a century.
Diplomatic relations between Algeria and Oman were established in 1973, following the visit of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said to Algeria. Since then, relations have been strengthened through establishing the Omani-Algerian Joint Committee in 1991, which has contributed to developing partnerships in energy, trade, and investment.
Oman and Algeria share positions based on non-interference in the internal affairs of states, and call for resolving conflicts through dialogue. They also share their steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause and support for joint Arab action forms an essential part of this relationship.
Algeria and Oman seek to diversify their economies and reduce dependence on hydrocarbons, focusing on areas such as renewable energy and agriculture. Cooperation in the fields of phosphate, ammonia and gas production is witnessing remarkable development, with the signing of new agreements that enhance economic cooperation.
Culture and science occupy an important place in the vision of both countries, as many previous agreements have been signed to enhance cooperation in education and culture, reflecting their commitment to developing cultural relationships.
This visit is considered a new starting point for strengthening Omani-Algerian relations, with a focus on various areas of cooperation and developing strategic partnerships, ensuring a bright future for relations between the two countries.
