Some among economic experts believe the Algerian government by adopting a new economic model had to make changes at the head of sensitive economic sectors, such as the portfolios of energy and finance, while others surmise that the latest reports of the IMF and the World Bank about Algeria’s socio-economic juncture have induced such changes.

Independent economic expert Abderrahmane Mebtoul, said to this effect that’s three assessment international reports released last week coupled with the conclusions of the last tripartite meeting were behind the recent small-scale ministerial reshuffle which affected mainly the hydrocarbons sector and the financial resources department.

Mr Mebtoul believes that this is the new governmental policy based on the need to maintain social gains without compromising the country’s economic interests that motivated this partial reshuffle of ministers.

In addition to the creation of a new department in charge of the digital economy and the modernization of financial systems, related to finance, augurs a new technological era of e-payment for e-commerce as a tangible reality in Algeria.

This salutary change, he noted, will allow the government to reap $5 billion dollars similarly to other countries with an identical picture to boost the national economy and to attract funds, nearly 40 billion dollars, which now circulate outside official channels.
