Three terrorists get death sentence in absentia in Algiers criminal court

The criminal court of Algiers sentenced Sunday “B.Omar”, “Z.Kamal” and “B.Cherif” to death in absentia, likely to be involved in terrorist bombings of Derguana, Algiers 2006, after they were followed on charges killing, destruction and instilling fear among the population as well as wilful destruction of the state institutions using explosives leaving dead civilians and people with permanent disabilities.

  • Representative of the general rights sought life prison for the three terrorists who were finally sentence to dead in absentia because they are still wanted by the security services.
  •
  • Seven victims out of 36 attended the hearing and preferred keeping their rights until the three terrorists’ arrest.
  •
  • The criminal court also postponed the final hearing about the suicide bombings by the GSPC or AQIM targeting the Government Palace in Algiers and the Judicial Police headquarters in Bab Ezzouar on April 11, 2007, as well the suicide attack of Thnia, which targeted headquarters of the mobile judicial police in January 2008, to the next session because of the terrorists’ absence.
