Tlemcen, 2011 Capital of Islamic Culture facilities are ready: Minister
All the facilities meant to host cultural activities as part of the “Tlemcen, 2011 Capital of Islamic Culture” even and shelter participating delegations are ready, Algerian news agency APS reported on Wednesday citing culture minister Khalida Toumi.
- “Actually, everything is ready to host the important event. All the facilities meant to host the most important cultural activities and shelter the participating delegations are ready,” Khalida Toumi told the APS.
- “There is no problem in sheltering the delegations. A number of hotels were delivered for this purpose,” she added.
- A total of 15 ministers and 5 secretary generals or general directors of international and regional organisations will lead the delegations to attend the opening ceremony.
- The delegations represent 25 countries and 8 international and regional organisations.
- The minister said the official launching will be from a tent in a high land in presence of senior personalities. The opening ceremony will be followed by a fire works spectacle.
- The official opening will be preceded by a popular ceremony due to be held on April 15th. A total of 22 big trucks carrying masterpieces will make a tour in the city of Tlemcen (west of Algiers).
- The official opening ceremony will be held on April 16th.
