Top bank manager beaten in prison

The wife of the former Director General of the Local Development Bank (BDL), who was sentenced to 12 years in prison for being involved in the Khalifa Bank scandal, has lodged a complaint against a warden in Blida’s prison accusing him beating her husband since the first days of the holly Ramadhan.

• In a telephone conversation with “Echourok”, the plaintiff has declared that her husband was tortured by the so called S. Youcef on the second day of Ramadhan after being handcuffed and thrown in a dungeon until very late in the day.

• She added that her husband, who revealed in details his suffering, has decided not to yield to these intimidations, because the warden was harassing him since his admission to this prison.

• The lady, who tried with no avail to meet the prison’s director, has resorted to write a letter to the justice minister requesting him to open an inquiry on the case. “ an assault against a prisoner is a clear violation of the detainees’ rights and the justice system alike” she said

• The manager worked for three months at Al Khalifa bank and holds a master in economics
