Top managers at the hydrocarbons company Sonatrach forced to go for retirement

The newly appointed General Manager of the Hydrocarbons Company “Sonatrach” has decided to send dozens of top managers to retirement after going beyond the legal age especially those who hold top positions at the helm of the Company’s branches for more than five years and some of them are over 70.

  • The former minister has fixed the limit for those managers to five years maximum but he applied it only for the ablest and those who criticized his management since his appointing on the company in 2002.

  • The new General Manager has asked all the managers of the of branches to forward thorough assessments on their activities including “ Naftogaz”, the Algerian Petroleum Institute, the National company of Geophysics and the National Drilling Company whose managers have largely exceeded the age limit for retirement, a source close to the General Manager has revealed.

  • The new Minister Youcef Youcefi has decided to extend this movement to other managers in the company in a move to refurbish its image and regain confidence before the local and foreign operators.
