Transport Minister Punishes Officials Over Illegal Employment In Air Algérie

Head of the air medical evacuation department, who is also a former judicial expert, and official in civil aviation, exposed another scandal that is related to abuses in hiring and manipulation in the granting of the first class airline licenses at the level of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Transport Ministry.

Doctor Hassen Cordoroli told Echorouk, on Tuesday, coinciding with the recent developments in Air Algerie company, that the report, which is in his possession, reveals on the irregularities and manipulations that were carried out by a number of officials in the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, like the illegal employment and the granting of aviation licenses for new medical interns with unclear certificates which contain the phrase “Apte avec dérogation” (Able with derogation) for the first class, explaining that this is totally opposing the legislation of the World Organization for civil Aviation, and the Algerian legislation because the civil Aviation Directorate is monitoring and control authority, with respect to civil aviation and air navigation, which impose the required international agreement standards.

Former Expert in Civil Aviation and Transport Minister, Boudjemaa Talai, asked for the need to open an investigation concerning the granting of the Civil Aviation Directorate of final flights licences, for a number of pilots who obtained certificates from abroad, without subjecting them to the scientific, medical and psychological investigation on qualifications before granting them these licenses, as it demanded the reconsideration of the strict application of the legislation in civil aviation with the activation of the joint Ministerial resolution No. 04-414 between the Health and Transport Ministry, which stipulates in its article on the ninth selection of medical standards, but remained so far locked in drawers.

“A Medical Council of Civil Aviation should be created to take care of the application of all the medical laws in the aviation sector with the need to reform laws and avoid complying with European laws only. We praise the actions that were carried out by the Minister of Transport, recently, in order to maintain the goodwill of the company Air Algérie, at the height of an international competition in the international air transport market”.
