Tunisia investigates in private clinics in search of Algeria’s smuggled blood
Tunisian Health Ministry, opened an investigation in the blood quantities that were smuggled from Algeria, and its Algerian counterpart opened investigations on the brokers of “blood banks”, and confirmed the smuggling of more than 7,000 bags that were transferred from hospitals during the past three years, and smuggling them towards some neighboring countries, among them, both Tunisia and Morocco, while preliminary data indicate the sale of “Tunisian blood” for terrorist groups in Libya, as confirmed by the Tunisian Minister in previous media statements, which do not rule out that “Algerian blood” can be within the “sale deals”.
Reliable sources told Echorouk, that the Tunisian Health Minister, Said Laidi, ordered an investigation in the private clinics to verify the source of blood bags that are used to save the sick and injured who are in need of blood and their destination, especially since the preliminary investigation confirmed the existence of a cell of selling blood bags that are donated to Tunisians in order to transfer them, without their knowledge, to terrorist groups in Libya.
Previously, the Tunisian Health Minister said that there are fake blood donation campaigns that have sprung up recently in the Tunisian capital, and in a number of provinces, as hundreds of blood bags are sold in high prices for armed groups in Libya, adding that he has appointed a team to investigate in the matter, expressing his deep regret for the existence of such operations, and pointing to the existence of smuggling operations and that they have been done, but not in large quantities, considering that it is not a disaster to the country.

Investigations that were initiated by the competent services, under the commission of the Health Minister, Abdelmalek Boudiaf, regarding the smuggling of blood bags , show that more than 7,000 blood bags, each one contain 500 Milliliters of blood, were looted and smuggled, in a professional manner, by the managers of “blood banks”, through the hospitals, during the past 3 years, with the complicity of a number of those who are responsible for the maintenance, storage and supplying surgery sections from the blood bank, and a number of doctors and nurses, as a large part of them fled to Tunisia and Morocco on the database that have been discovered, and which confirmed the registration of significant quantities of medicines and medical equipment, as well as the blood, to be exploited and traded by specialists brokers for the benefit of private clinics.
