Tunisian Forest Agents Who Were Detained On Algerian Territory Are Released

Six Tunisian forest agents were released, on Tuesday, after six days of interrogation, on the background of their entry by mistake, according to them, to Algeria and specifically to the territory of Souk Ahras Province (eastern Algeria), as the Tunisian Agriculture Ministry praised the Algerian authorities understanding and the good treatment of the six Tunisian forest agents, who work in the department of forests in Djendouba province, that is bordering Souk Ahras province, with its dense mountains and forests, after their arrest of the Algerian border guards’ services, that are watchful to protect the border from any kind of infiltration, both to persons in uniform or civilians, and that since last Wednesday.

Tunisian ministry said, in a statement, that is published on its website, that the forest agents investigated in the normal manner, by the Algerian authorities because they entered the Algerian territory, specifically Souk Ahras, when they were in a routine patrol, and then returned to Tunisia through official channels, as this incident came to reaffirm that the Algerian border, and for years was under tight security control, that is difficult to penetrate, and that after a series of actions, both through the advanced completed centres, which number exceeded, from El Tarf province, to Souk Ahras through Tebessa by about 40 centres, as some of them took thermal cameras, in addition to the existing aircraft squadron that is based in Tebessa (eastern Algeria), and which have a periodic activity, which is almost daily

Security services foiled several criminal operations by the smugglers near the border or illegal infiltration of Algerian territory.
