Two Algerian children held at Christian centre in Germany

A German judge deprived an Algerian man living in Algiers of his children and put them in a Christian centre for social help after their German mother had gone to jail, said Rabeh Hssayen.

  • Rabeh was telling Echorouk about his suffering after he married with a German in Algeria in April 2001 and decided to live in Germany. They have a 9-year-old boy named Yacine and Adam who is six.
  • In 2006, his wife insisted on divorce getting the temporary right of custody pending for final trial.
  • A friend called Hssayen telling him German police had arrested his wife for drugs possession. He asked the court to see his children but the German judge said he could see them provided a psychologist is present.
  • Hssayen accepted the judge’s condition but the psychologist did not attend any of the scheduled meetings with the children.
  • The police confirmed to the Algerian man that his wife was in jail but the judge rejected his request alleging that the woman was freed.
  • “It’s a misleading and discrimination act,” he said.
  • He believes the judge made all the defence lawyers withdraw from the case.
  • As the husband was sure that his children are at a social department for children care in Germany, he filled a lawsuit against the judge at the Supreme Court. Yet, he did not receive any reply.
  • German authorities subsequently expelled him from Germany while he submitted many requests to the Algerian consulate in Germany asking for intervention but in vain.
