Two killed in a suicide bombing east of Algiers
Tadmait, Tizi Ouzou, east of Algiers

A 55 year-old woman and a local guard perished, another local guard was injured as well as nine civilians with two of them being in a critical health condition, after a suicide bomber blew himself Saturday morning at about 8:20 a.m targeting the community guards of Tadmait, exactly at about 450 meters, west of the town and 15 km west of Tizi Ouzou.  

  • According to testimonies by some municipal guards, who were present on the scene of the blast, the surprise suicide attack killed their 35 year-old friend and brother, single and having a disabled father, as well as a 55 year-old woman who worked in the municipality. Another local guard was injured alonside many civilians who lived near the community guards as well as others who were just passing by in the region at the time of the explosion.
  • The suicide attack occured after pupils entered a local secondary school, 15 meters from the community guards. The head of the suicide bomber was found then he was identified; he is a youngman in the thirties without a beard. He saw that all the guards were inside their community that’s why he tried to enter through the main gate and blew himself up inside the community in order to kill a significant number of guards.
  • The first victim “Rami Malek” was willing to go out of the scene, and when he arrived at the gate the suicide bomber, strapped with explosives, tried to enter but Rami stopped him, and after a strong fight with the suicide bomber, Rami was able to drive him out of the community, at about 10 meters, where the terrorist detonated himself, killing two people and injuring nine civilians, six of them were rushed to the hospital of Tizi Ouzou, east of Algiers.
  •  Two are still alive but under medical care, in addition to three people, including a teenage girl, a secondary school pupil who was swiftly taken to the nearby municipal health centre Draa Ben Khedda where she received necessary medical care before going back home.
