Two terrorists get death sentences on charges of assassinating security officials east of Algiers
The criminal court of Boumerdes (east of Algiers) orders death sentences against 14 terrorists from Zamouri, most of them in the run, on charges of assassinating a police governor Touat Mohamed Taha Hocine and his assistant Ghazi Noureddine, while a police inspector Boufassa survived after suffering serious injuries following a terrorist attack on May 2, 2009.
The court also sentenced both “H.Ali” and “H.Mohamed” to 20 years in prison on charges of joining a terrorist group, participating in intentional murder.
Provisions of 17 other accused in the case of the assassination the two security officials range between 18 months and two years on charges of supporting terrorists, joining a terrorist back up cell and not reporting on a murder crime while occurring.
Details of the case back to May 2009, when a terrorist group attacked a police station targeting the governor, his assistant and the inspector through shooting them with a hail of bullets using a Kalashnikov near the AADL agency downtown Zemouri (east of Algiers) causing the death of the security assistant Ghazi in the place, while the police governor Touat died in Thenia hospital and the inspector Bouafassa suffered serious injuries but survived after several days in the same hospital.
Identity of the terrorists implicated in the assassination was determined, including Habib Mourad called “Nouh” and Hadjras Houcine called “Debagha”.
Testimonies also confirmed the tight ties between the terrorists who carried out the terrorist attack and elements of the backup cell through provide support and monitoring the movements of security agents especially “Ali.H”.
