UK to deport 30 Algerian prisoners

Algerian and British judicial authorities agreed on the deportation of more than 30 Algerians jailed in the UK including 15 terror suspects, according to well-informed sources.

  •
  • Contacts made by a delegation from Algerian Justice Ministry have come up with the necessity of deporting the Algerian prisoners for trial in their homeland.
  • In 2007, British authorities stopped deportation process of a number of 4 terror suspects out of 17. The decision was based on fears triggered following the extradition of D.R. and B.A. in February 2007 who are jailed in Algiers.
  • London asked Algiers to provide it with more information on allegations given by their lawyers on ill-treatment.
  • As for the rest of the terror suspects, they asked for deportation and trial in their country especially after the settlement of the law on the National Reconciliation.
